Do you keep seeing “Wait while we initialize the Device Link” without the page ever changing? It’s likely that a component of the application wasn’t installed properly.
Is The Software Installed?
When you first arrive on the setup page, you should be prompted to install the Device Link software. If you were not prompted and have not installed the software yet, please do so by selecting your operating system below.
Disable Anti-Virus Software
During installation an important line must be added to your operating system’s hosts file. Some anti-virus software blocks this file from being updated. Try disabling your anti-virus software and re-installing (don’t forget to re-enable it after installation). Here’s an article how to update the hosts file by hand.
WebRoot Secure Anywhere
If you are running WebRoot Secure Anywhere, there is one specific thing that needs to be done.
- Click ADVANCED SETTINGS at the top right of the WebRoot Secure Anywhere window.
- Select the SHIELDS tab.
- Uncheck the box that says Prevent any program from modifying the HOSTs file.
- Click SAVE
You should now re-install the software. Once complete, you can check the box that we unchecked in step 3 above.
