How to turn Automatic Trip Detection (Manual Mode) on/off

Manual Mode allows you to use the Business Button to set trips to business or personal on the fly while you are driving.  But how do you turn this on or off?

What Is Manual Mode?

Check out our help article describing what manual mode is.

Manual Mode is a setting in your account

Please don’t confuse Manual Mode with a button on your device.   It’s a setting that you can turn on or off in your account, which tells our trip processing system whether to use automatic business trip detection when processing your trips.

You can turn Manual mode on within your account in two different places.

Need to know what the buttons do?

See our help article to learn how to use the buttons on your mileage tracker.

During Initial Setup

When you initially link a mileage tracker to your account, you’ll get asked whether you want your device to be Automatic or Manual.

If you have not setup or linked the tracker to your account yet, this is a critical step that you need to perform anyway.  Please follow the instructions in your setup manual to link the mileage tracker to your account.

In your Account Settings page

Your Account Settings page is found by clicking your email address at the top right of the screen when you are logged in.  A menu will drop down, and you can select ‘Account Settings’.

On the Account Settings page, scroll down to the section that reads Automatic Business Trip Detection.

Automatic Business Trip Detection Setting

To turn Manual Mode on, UNCHECK the box and click save.  This will turn Automatic Trip Detection off (which means Manual Mode is On).

To turn Manual Mode off (Automatic Trip Detection On), CHECK the box and click save.
